ABOUT OLIVER

Oliver Costello is a violinist, composer, and multidisciplinary artist based in New York City committed to the advancement of classical and contemporary music.  A graduate of Manhattan School of Music and Montclair State University, he has worked with many acclaimed musicians including Chloe Kiffer, Jessica Meyer, and Laurie Carney of the American String Quartet. 

As a composer and performer, he recently presented a workshop premiere of “…de la terre”, an integrated multimedia recital project exploring the ways in which music comes forth from our world and questioning the ways in which we have harnessed it; on which he served as audio engineer, visual effects coordinator, performer, creating a continuous visual and auditory experience including audio-reactive visual effects.

His works have been performed in venues across New York and New Jersey, including a premiere of his piece “Reflecting Pools” at the French Consulate of New York.  As a performer, he played in the Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Montclair State University, working with and performing alongside musicians such as Stefan Jackiw, Leyla McCalla, and the Kronos Quartet. 

He is committed to support and performance of contemporary music as both composer and performer, having premiered solo and chamber works by numerous composers including Yuval Medina, Zeke Morgan, and Jacob Tantleff. As a filmmaker, he is currently creating two commissioned experimental shorts for NYConsciousness, a creative project funded by The Juilliard School.
